Researchers at Istanbul Beykent University introduced a mechanism-driven metaheuristic with fractional memory for constrained optimization in Nature. • Urban Tunnelling: Researchers at Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa developed a Weathering Control Index (WCI) to evaluate Earth Pressure Balance Tunnel Boring Machines (EPB TBMs) operating in complex weathering conditions during urban underground excavation.

• Nanofluid Modeling: Teams from Istanbul Gelişim University and Istanbul Okan University introduced an integrated computing methodology combining Support Vector Regression and Genetic Algorithms (SVR-GA) for the multi-objective optimization of MWCNT/water nanofluids.

• Advanced Manufacturing: Researchers at CNK Havacılık analyzed quasi-symmetric and staggered inner-milling strategies to mitigate deformation in thin-walled aerospace plates.

At least 446 academics at foundation (private) universities in Istanbul are facing job losses following the conclusion of the latest academic year. Labor rights advocates have raised alarms over the growing trend of insecure contract structures and sudden termination waves within the private higher education sector.

Representatives of the affected faculty members argue that the current labor practices compromise academic freedom and livelihood stability, calling for structural reforms to guarantee job security across foundation universities.
