Istanbul remains a central hub for major international sporting events across multiple disciplines. UEFA has confirmed that Beşiktaş Park will host the 2025/26 UEFA Europa League final featuring Freiburg and Aston Villa, following the completion of the semi-finals. In motorsport, Intercity Istanbul Park is reportedly under consideration as a contingency plan for the 2026 Formula 1 calendar, potentially bringing the race back to the city for the first time since 2021.

Basketball fans also saw action in the city, with Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul facing off against Zalgiris Kaunas in Game 3 of the 2026 EuroLeague Playoffs. Additionally, the WTA Istanbul Open's singles and doubles draws have progressed, featuring prominent tennis match-ups that run concurrently with events like the Internazionali BNL d'Italia in Rome.

The Istanbul Park circuit is set to officially return to the Formula One calendar starting in 2027, securing a contract to host the prestigious motorsport event for at least five years. To build momentum and commemorate the return of the Turkish Grand Prix, promotional filming recently featured a Formula 1 car touring iconic locations across the city. The vehicle was showcased driving through the Uskudar district and made appearances spanning from Galataport to the historic Dolmabahçe Palace, signaling significant local and international anticipation for the races.
