Istanbul Drives Historic Rail Projects and Expands Global Trade Corridors
Türkiye is actively advancing regional and international logistics infrastructure. Through a new deal with Saudi Arabia, the historic Hejaz railway project is being advanced, reviving the ambitious 1900 vision of Ottoman Sultan Abdulhamid II to build a rail line connecting Istanbul to the broader Middle East. In the aviation sector, a new inter-carrier agreement between Air Peace and Turkish Airlines is opening a faster air freight corridor, which may position Istanbul as the next major gateway for West African trade.
