Global Summits in Istanbul: Focus on Climate Action and Nuclear Energy

Istanbul has served as a central hub for international dialogues focusing on environmental sustainability and future energy infrastructure.

Ahead of the UN climate change conference (COP31), which Turkey is slated to co-chair, the country is heavily promoting its national "zero waste" initiative. During a recent summit in Istanbul, participants emphasized the need for stronger international coordination regarding zero-waste policies and climate resilience, aiming to establish circular economies that mitigate environmental impact.

In the energy sector, the World Nuclear Association, in partnership with the Nuclear Industry Association of Türkiye (NIATR), hosted an End Energy Users Workshop in Istanbul. The gathering brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and academics to discuss the deployment of nuclear solutions for large energy consumers. The summit aimed to shape the future of reliable, decarbonized energy grids for heavy industries.
