Cultural Diplomacy: Istanbul Hosts Key Orthodox Meeting and Turkic Children's Festival
Istanbul recently served as a gathering place for significant religious and cultural events. In observance of the Easter holiday, the Greek (Rûm) Orthodox Patriarch John X Yazigi traveled to the city to meet with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I, highlighting Istanbul's enduring importance to Orthodox Christianity. Furthermore, the city reinforced its cultural ties across the Turkic world by inaugurating the Turkic World Children's Games Festival on April 28, 2026. The opening ceremony, organized by the Organization of Turkic States, brought together over 250 children to celebrate shared heritage through traditional sports and games.
