EU Commissioner Dombrovskis Evaluates Economic Ties and Reforms in Istanbul Visit

European Commissioner for Economy and Productivity, Implementation and Simplification Valdis Dombrovskis traveled to Istanbul to participate in the EU-Türkiye High-Level Economic Dialogue. In an exclusive interview broadcast by NTV, Dombrovskis analyzed the current trajectory of bilateral trade and economic relations, noting that the existing Customs Union framework remains a resilient baseline, supporting a record mutual trade volume of roughly €217 billion last year.

The economic consultations centered on the practical implementation of Turkey's ongoing structural reform agenda and macro-financial policies. Dombrovskis welcomed Turkey's domestic disinflation program, emphasizing that a predictable macroeconomic environment is critical for long-term fiscal stability, while highlighting Turkey's role as a strategic partner in stabilizing regional supply chains.
