Istanbul Universities Publish Advances in Tunnel Engineering and Nanofluid Optimization

Researchers from Istanbul-based academic institutions and technical firms have released engineering studies in Scientific Reports (Nature Portfolio):

• Urban Tunnelling: Researchers at Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa developed a Weathering Control Index (WCI) to evaluate Earth Pressure Balance Tunnel Boring Machines (EPB TBMs) operating in complex weathering conditions during urban underground excavation.

• Nanofluid Modeling: Teams from Istanbul Gelişim University and Istanbul Okan University introduced an integrated computing methodology combining Support Vector Regression and Genetic Algorithms (SVR-GA) for the multi-objective optimization of MWCNT/water nanofluids.

• Advanced Manufacturing: Researchers at CNK Havacılık analyzed quasi-symmetric and staggered inner-milling strategies to mitigate deformation in thin-walled aerospace plates.
