Istanbul remains prominent across scientific research, international sports, and tourism. On the tourism and travel front, Istanbul’s historical Basilica Cistern drew 25,000 visitors over a single weekend in early June, and Air Cairo announced plans to add a new Sharm el Sheikh – Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen route for the Northern winter 2026/27 season.
