Released Gaza Flotilla Activists Arrive in Istanbul Following Israeli Detention
A group of international activists participating in a Gaza-bound flotilla mission arrived in Istanbul following their detention and subsequent deportation by Israeli authorities. Among those received at Istanbul Airport were Canadian citizens and the sister of the Irish President. Upon arrival, the activists met with consular officials. Reports from the returning individuals, including a Canadian activist, alleged severe mistreatment and beatings during their days in Israeli custody, drawing unequivocal condemnation from the Canadian government regarding the treatment of its citizens.
