Global Sumud Flotilla Activists Arrive in Istanbul Following Interception by Israeli Forces
Activists participating in the Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla have safely landed at Istanbul Airport. The convoy, which aimed to deliver humanitarian aid, was intercepted by Israeli naval forces in international waters. A Turkish Airlines flight originating from the Greek island of Crete transported 59 detained activists back to Türkiye. The passengers included 18 Turkish nationals alongside citizens from 14 other nations. Upon their return, organizers and activists reported that they were mistreated during their detention at sea before being released and flown to Istanbul.
